Shape Selector Tools define specific areas of your course in the Map View. Once you have an area selected, you can copy it, fill it with a specific terrain type or relief, sculpt it, or place objects in it.

Click the shape you want to draw on your course. A black-and-white dashed line, called a marquee, will appear in the Top View;

if the selected area is also within the camera's view angle, the marquee may also appear in the Camera View. The white box on a marquee is called a Control Square.

Rectangle Tool

Clicking and dragging with this tool selects a rectangular-shaped area.

Ellipse

Clicking and dragging with this tool selects an elliptical or circular selection. It's particularly useful for making greens, tees and lakes.

Polygon

The Polygon tool lets you select irregular areas of your course. With this tool, clicking in the Top View anchors the polygon's first point. Each additional click creates a new side of the polygon. Continue clicking and moving until you get a rough outline of the shape you want.

When you're ready to close the polygon, right-click in the Top View and choose Done. The Polygon tool is particularly useful for making irregularly shaped bunkers, lakes, greens and so forth.

Polyline

The Polyline tool lets you draw irregular lines whose exact shape can be edited later and whose thickness is controlled by the Pen width under the Edit menu.

With this tool, click in the Top View where you want the line to start. Drag, then click where you want the line to change direction, until you have the path you're looking for. Right-click and select Done to end the process. The Polyline tool is particularly useful for making rivers, cart paths and rows of evenly spaced objects such as rocks, bushes and trees.

Freehand

The Freehand tool lets you draw smooth, free-form lines whose thickness is controlled by the Pen width under the Edit menu but whose exact shape cannot be edited later.

With this tool active, click and drag the path you want. Right-click and select Done to end the process. The Freehand tool is particularly useful for making rivers and cart paths.
